Change is coming to Chula Vista's West Side

The City is projecting that over 7,000 additional homes, condos and apartments will be built in Northwest Chula Vista over the next twenty years! These plans include many new mid-rise (up to 7 stories) buildings in the urban core and high-rise buildings near Trolley stations. This will dramatically change the look and feel of our community.

Appropriate development will enhance our quality of life, and ill-conceived development could bring chaos & congestion and distract from our unique community character. Acting together we hope to attract positive measured growth to our neighborhoods.

The San Diego Chargers may be interested in moving to the Bayfront at the Power Plant location, but no definite plans/negotiations are in place. Chargers Subcommittee Presentation 6/8/2009

The approved Urban Core Specific Plan (UCSP) which will up-zone many neighborhoods, allowing for much increased densities and building heights. It also proposes design guidelines in redevelopment areas and addresses issues such parking, streetscapes and historic preservation. Appropriate development projects in the Urban Core are still one of our primary concerns and we are looking forward to working with any and all developers to bring forward these types of projects.

Make Your Voice Heard

The Northwest Civic Association is a community group that's inclusive, transparent and stresses the importance of public participation in planning our City's future. We have monthly meetings to discuss critical issues impacting Northwest Chula Vista neighborhoods. With our many voices and ideas we seek to participate in decisions that will affect our community. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for everyone while preserving our rich heritage. Learn more about who we are and what we do.

The most important current issues affecting Northwest Chula Vista are the City Budget Cuts and the Bayfront Development/EIR/Master Plan. Currently, the Bayfront development is moving slowing as the Port of San Diego and Pacifica Companies, Inc. work out their land swap negotiations and the Power Plant shutdown and demolition is still years away.
